It all started when…

As a highly flexible formation, the string octet lends itself to multiple collaborative possibilities. The Oberton String Octet hence formed the idea of 'Oberton+', a new concept which has given rise to regular and ongoing projects with musicians and soloists. In this formation, the ensemble transforms into a chamber orchestra without conductor.

Oberton+ has already performed throughout Austria with soloists such as Markus Schirmer and Erich Oskar Huetter, as well as the leader of the OSO Yevgeny Chepovetsky, with whom the ensemble has arranged various works to create diverse and exciting programmes.

In the formation of Oberton+ the ensemble has received a highly positive response, having already been invited to upcoming summer festivals and concert series locally and abroad.

Oberton+ is the Ensemble in Residence at Steirisches Kammermusik Festival in Styria.
